We look forward to getting to know your child and helping them to enjoy their first year at school. Miss O'Connor and Mrs Alton are the Reception class teachers. Mrs Stoner supports us with our learning.
We follow a wide and varied Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which builds upon and develops each child’s knowledge and skills. Our curriculum is play based and children will learn through a range of child-led and adult-led activities in both our indoor and outdoor spaces. The EYFS has seven areas of learning and development. Three areas are particularly important for building a foundation for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, forming relationships and thriving.
These are the prime areas:
• communication and language
• physical development
• personal, social and emotional development
The four specific areas, through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied. The specific areas are:
• understanding the world
• expressive arts and design
Please check our class Dojo pages for regular updates and photographs about what we have been doing in class! If you want to discuss something with us face to face, please do not hesitate to arrange a time to see us.
Hello everyone. We hope you all had a wonderful half term break. The children have made a fantastic start to the new term and we have begun work on our new topic, Celebrations. This week we will be focusing on Bonfire Night and Remembrance Day. The above topic plan details some of the learning we will be covering in class this term.
On Tuesday and Fridays, children may bring something from home to share with the class during 'News Time'. This is an opportunity for children to develop their speaking and listening skills. Children may bring: photographs, things they have made, leaflets from places they have been to or materials related to our topic. On Tuesdays it will be the turn of children in house groups Salusbury and Harrison. On Fridays children in Lloyd and Spencer can bring something to show. This term we would love to see and hear about Celebrations the children have taken part in. If possible, we would love to see photos or drawings of these too.
As ever if you have any questions or queries please don't hesitate to get in touch. Thank you for your continued support.

As we continue our 'All About Me' topic next week, we would love the children to bring in and share photos of their families.
